Dr. Anil Kakodkar

Dr. Anil Kakodkar has worked for the development of the atomic energy programme in India throughout his professional life. He is currently the Chairman of the Rajiv Gandhi Science & Technology Commission. He was the chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission of India and the Secretary to the Government of India, Department of Atomic Energy from 2000 to 2009. He was the Director of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Trombay.
Dr. Kakodkar has been a key contributor to India’s strategic programme. He was amongst the chosen few involved in the first successful Peaceful Nuclear Explosion Experiment that India conducted on May 18, 1974 at Pokhran. And later, he played a key role in the series of successful Nuclear Tests conducted during May 1998, again at Pokhran. India also demonstrated nuclear submarine powerpack technology under Dr. Kakodkar’s leadership.
He holds BE (Mech. Engineering) degree from the Bombay University and M.Sc. in the Experimental Stress Analysis from the Nottingham University. He has been awarded with Padma Shri , Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan .

Dr. R B Grover

Dr. Grover is Emeritus Professor, Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI) and has been a member of the Atomic Energy Commission, India since 2011. He is a fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering, and the World Academy of Art and Science.
As a nuclear engineer, he has worked in the areas of fuel and core thermal hydraulic analysis, process safety and plant dynamic analysis, process design of primary systems and equipment, and studies related to growth in energy requirements in India. He conceptualized the setting up of the HBNI as a university level institute. Concurrent with other responsibilities, he led it for eleven years. He participated in negotiations with other countries and international agencies leading to opening of international civil nuclear trade with India.
He was conferred with a Padma Shri in 2014 and has received several awards including Lifetime Achievement Award – 2011 by the Department of Atomic Energy.

Sh. Yatindra Mohan is working as Additional General Manager in Nuclear Business Group. Nuclear Business Group is a separate Business vertical in Power Sector, BHEL created during 2016, on a Single window concept, to harness the emerging opportunities of the ambitious Indigenous Nuclear Power Programme of India and to enhance responsiveness of BHEL to the needs of the Customers.
Sh Mohan is a Mechanical Engineering graduate of 1991 from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi. He is looking after marketing aspect of Nuclear Business within BHEL for last 10 years.
He joined Heavy Electrical Equipment Plant at BHEL Haridwar in 1991. His earlier experiences include design and manufacturing of power plant equipment like Condenser, Heaters, Turbo-Generator and Steam Turbine.

Ms. Pallavi Bedi is a Partner at L&L Partners [formerly Luthra & Luthra Law Offices] and specializes in the area of Projects and Project Finance. Pallavi focuses on Oil & Gas, Power, Renewable Energy, Mining and Project Financing. In addition, she has also been involved with other Infrastructure Projects such as Airports and Urban Infrastructure. Dr Fawzi Issa

Dr Fawzi Issa has been working for the EDF Group since 2003. He started as a Research Engineer in charge of high speed power line communications using power distribution networks. He then joined the nuclear power generation division where he dealt with skills development as full scope simulator Instructor and later on real time operation of two nuclear reactors as Deputy Operations Department Manager. From 2012 to 2017, Dr Issa took over the position of Managing Director of EDF South Africa, he represented the EDF Group for Southern Africa and focused on cross border regional projects along with the nuclear new build programme of South Africa. Since 2017, Dr Issa has relocated to Mumbai where he currently is the Deputy Director of the Jaitapur nuclear power project and ensures local coordination with various stakeholders as Head of EDF Mumbai office.

Dr Vijay Sazawal

Dr. Vijay Sazawal has over 40 years of professional experience in the nuclear industry covering the entire fuel cycle. Following his doctoral studies, he joined Westinghouse Electric Corporation in 1975 to develop and design sodium-cooled fast reactors. His tenure in Westinghouse lasted 20 years during which time he rose through successive management positions with responsibility for fast reactors, advanced terrestrial and space reactors, nuclear defense programs, and U.S. government programs to promote safety upgrades of Russian built reactors in Central and Eastern Europe. He moved to COGEMA Inc. (subsequently renamed Areva/Orano).as Vice President of Engineering and Technology, responsible for strategic business development, establishing corporate alliances, and management of company marketing and sales force in the U.S. dealing with the nuclear back-end fuel cycle activities. He later joined the sole U.S. owned nuclear fuel enrichment company USEC Inc. (renamed CENTRUS) as Director of Government Programs, where he coordinated and pursued advocacy for existing and new business initiatives within various agencies of the U.S. federal government responsible for promoting civil nuclear exports and nuclear export licensing. He was the company representative to the IAEA General Conferences in Vienna, Austria. In 2015 Dr. Sazawal started his own consultancy firm to promote civil nuclear exports in the global market place. He was a subject matter expert for the U.S.-India civil nuclear agreement for the U.S. India Business Council (USIBC) during the period the pact was negotiated and passed by the U.S. Congress. Dr. Sazawal has been a member of the Civil Nuclear Trade Advisory Committee (CINTAC), organized by the U.S. Government, since 2011. He is an alumnus of the Banaras Hindu University (BHU), class of 1967.

With a 5 year span at hard-core field operations in Oil well drilling, moved on to India’s biggest Engineering multinational M/s Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T). With L&T since 1992, have had varied experience in various products mix for sectors like Oil & Gas, Petrochemical/ Refinery, Fertiliser and Power, establishing key contacts and break-through orders from customers around the globe.
In year 2007, company deputed to Milan, Italy where managed Marketing of complete range of products for Hydrocarbon, Fertiliser, Petrochemical sectors in Europe and also established smooth network for Sourcing of key components (forgings, plates, nozzles, etc.) from Western as well certain Eastern European countries. After a successful stint in Europe, returned back to India and got associated with Nuclear Sector in 2010, in the Project Manager for Nuclear Equipment for NPCIL. In Aug 2013, took over the role of Nuclear and Industrial forged components marketing, for multiple industries with focus on Nuclear Power sector, in “L&T & NPCIL Joint Venture” M/s L&T Special Steels & Heavy Forgings Pvt. Ltd. (LTSSHF). Have been working closely with NPCIL for the development, as well as commercial production for the new 10 units PHWRs.

Mr Balaji Thiagarajan is presently working as Deputy General Manager in General Insurance Corporation of India, Mumbai, and handles the portfolios of Reinsurance Pools, Life Reinsurance and Engineering.
Mr Balaji holds Masters Degree in Agricultural Sciences majoring in Agricultural Statistics and is a Fellow member of Insurance Institute of India. He has twelve years’ experience of working in a direct insurance company, where he handled various departments including Motor Third Party claims, Fire/Marine/Miscellaneous claims and a long tenure in Rural Insurance, involved in product design for Plantation/Horticulture/Flori- culture Crop Insurance.
Mr Balaji has been with GIC Re for the last 18 years, starting with 4 years in GIC Crop Insurance Cell, implementing Government-sponsored National Agricultural Insurance Scheme. Thereafter, he has been associated with Reinsurance in GIC Re for the last 14 years, working in various roles including Property Reinsurance underwriting and claims, Terrorism Risk Insurance Pool, Agricultural Reinsurance, Life Reinsurance, Retakaful and more recently, Technical Support Unit for Crop Insurance in Delhi. Mr Balaji was posted to GIC Re’s overseas branch at London for 4 years from 2013 to 2017, where he handled Treaty Underwriting and served as Director of GIC Re Corporate Member Limited in Lloyd’s of London.
Mr Balaji is passionate about teaching/training and has been a guest faculty at premier institutes in India. He has been a speaker in international seminars on natural catastrophe pools.
