Now in its 2nd year, Türkiye Nuclear Business Platform (TNBP) provides a world-class platform to access and gain first-hand insights on the Turkish nuclear market. Turkiye is one of the fastest growing market globally. The country is hungry for energy and presents massive opportunities. Via our regional office in Turkiye, we are deeply engaged with nuclear energy developments in the country. At the heart of what we do, we firmly believe that nuclear energy is pivotal in the fight against climate change and countries must include nuclear energy in discussions to achieve decarbonisation and net zero.
TNBP 2024 is hosted by Türkiye Nükleer Enerji A.Ş. (TÜNAŞ). TÜNAŞ was established in 2015 by the Council of Ministers resolution with the vision of transferring new technologies in the nuclear field to Türkiye. The main target of TÜNAŞ is to realize nuclear power plant new build projects in international partnerships. Developing a domestic nuclear supply chain and a local human capital in the quality and quantity capable of meeting the needs of the projects are also among the targets of TÜNAŞ. While TÜNAŞ is solely responsible for the planning phase of new nuclear power plants, it will share the responsibility during the development, construction and operation phases with its international partners.
TNBP 2024 strives to fulfil two main objectives:
The first objective is obtaining insights on Türkiye’s current & future nuclear power programs. Apart from the Akkuyu NPP which is set to become operational next year, Türkiye is planning to build a nuclear power plant in the Black Sea province of Sinop, a third one in the Thrace region and adopting small modular reactors (SMRs). By the 2050s, Türkiye will have over 20 GW of installed nuclear power capacity
The second objective is to showcase the Turkish nuclear journey as a role model for emerging nuclear countries to emulate. With its strategic vision, prudent policies, and commitment to safety, Türkiye has demonstrated its potential to serve as an example for other nations seeking to harness the benefits of nuclear energy.

Exclusive Akkuyu NPP Site Visit
As part of TNBP 2024, there will be an exclusive technical visit to Akkuyu NPP site for 30 participants.
Akkuyu NPP is the first nuclear power plant in Turkey. It will consist of four Power Units with VVER-1200 generation III+ reactors equipped with advanced safety systems. The total installed capacity of the NPP is 4,800 MW. The estimated life of each unit is 60 years, with the 20-year extension based on the results of the project safety assessment and approvals by the Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NDK) of Turkey. After the commissioning of all four Power Units, Akkuyu NPP will generate about 35 billion kWh per year.
Adana
TNBP 2024 will take place in the Turkish city of Adana.
Founded in the south of Türkiye at the foot of Taurus Mountains, between Seyhan and Ceyhan Rivers, on Çukurova Plain, dating back to BCE 6000s with historical cities, colorful nature, clear beaches and offering a unique experience with the clean air of Taurus Mountains, Adana is the sixth largest city of Türkiye.
The oldest city name still used without being changed is Adana. Adana, in the form of Adaniia or Ataniia on the Hittite cuneiform tablets, was first mentioned in the letter of the Hittite King Telipu in 1150 BCE.
Being an important city of Ancient Cilicia Adana, its fertile lands and its strategic location on commercial and military routes, caused it to change hands between different civilizations. Home to 18 civilizations, you can visit more than 10 ancient cities all over the city, breathe the unique nature and fresh air of the plateaus, and taste their delicious food.
