AFNBP 2026 HOST

Africa’s Nuclear Renaissance: Powering Sustainable Growth
Theme for AFNBP 2026: Advancing Africa’s Nuclear Energy Future

African nations are forging ahead with ambitious nuclear programs, showcasing a resolute commitment to economic growth, social progress, and environmental sustainability through nuclear technology. The continent is poised to have 15 GW of nuclear capacity by 2035 with more than 15 African countries having formal nuclear energy programs, at different stages of development. These range from the adoption of the necessary policies to the development of regulations, and from site selection to discussions with vendors.

NBP has categorised the African nuclear prospects into 3 tiers based on government support for nuclear energy, timelines and infrastructure activities.

Nuclear energy offers Africa a powerful tool to meet its diverse needs. Beyond providing stable, low-carbon electricity to fuel industries and create jobs, nuclear technology holds immense potential in healthcare, agriculture, and water management. From powering urban centers to supporting rural development, nuclear energy is poised to enhance living standards and drive innovation across the continent, positioning Africa as a key player in the global energy transition.

The international nuclear community has a unique opportunity to engage with Africa’s growing nuclear sector. Collaborative partnerships, investment, and knowledge-sharing can accelerate the continent’s sustainable development while fostering technological advancements. By working with African nations, global stakeholders can contribute to a vibrant nuclear ecosystem that delivers mutual economic and environmental benefits. Now in its 5th edition, the Africa Nuclear Business Platform (AFNBP) 2026 is the premier high-level industry gathering, uniting African and international nuclear stakeholders to explore and advance nuclear energy developments. Join us to discuss innovative strategies, share expertise, and shape Africa’s nuclear future.

We look forward to welcoming you to Abuja, Nigeria, in April 2026!

Africa Nuclear Industry Report

The 2025 edition of this 300-page report offers deep, specialized, and highly relevant intelligence on a strategically important and rapidly evolving market. It serves as a critical roadmap for international investors, vendors, and policymakers by clarifying the diverse and non-monolithic nature of the African nuclear landscape. In summary, the report provides a single, centralized source of verified and synthesized intelligence necessary for navigating the complexities and capitalizing on the growth of Africa's multi-billion-dollar nuclear energy sector.

Key highlights of this report include:

  • Risk Mitigation and Opportunity Mapping: The report provides a crucial analytical tool by clearly defining the market landscape through the NBP's Three-Tier Categorization of African nations. This structure helps investors quickly assess which countries have firm government commitment and tangible timelines versus those in earlier, riskier phases, enabling smarter capital allocation.

  • Market Size and Growth: The report quantifies the immense market opportunity, noting projections for up to 15,000 MW of new nuclear capacity by 2035, representing a potential investment market of approximately $105 billion.

  • Competitive Intelligence: It details the geopolitics of nuclear partnerships, identifying the dominant vendors—Russia, China, the US, France, and South Korea—and their specific offerings
